Wyntje Ariens Allard Dejongh

   Another name for Wyntje was Wilhelmina or Lavinia.

  Noted events in her life were:

• Immigration, 1660. Our family immigrated to New Netherlands on the ship “The Spotted Cow.”

• Family Death, 27 Feb 1679. My husband Aldert died and I received possession of all his property.

• Property, 1685, Hurley, Marbletown, Ulster, New York, USA. ³²⁶
I secured a grant of 320 acres in Hurley from the government in honor of my husband services.

Wyntje married Captain Aldert Heymans Roosa, son of Heijman Gijsbertsz Roosa and Eijken Jan Kuijstendr, on 3 Nov 1640 in Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands. (Captain Aldert Heymans Roosa was born in 1619 in Andel Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands,^269,270,271 died on 27 Feb 1679 in Hurley, New York and was buried in 1679 in Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery, Kingston, New York ^272,273.)

The record reads as follows, viz.: "Hic filius obiit ante baptismum." (

Albert married in 1642 in Herwynen to Wyntie Ariense de Jongh. Wyntie was born in 1622 in the same village. She died in Hurley, Ulster County, New York. Wyntie was the daughter of Arien Meertensen de Jongh and Maria. One record indicates she was a widower when she married Aldert. It is unknown if this is true. If her birth year is correct, she married Aldert at the age of 20.
