Christian Meyer is the progenitor of this family. He settled on 150 acres in Lower Slaford Township, Montgomery County upon his arrival from Switzerland. He left his fatherland due to the unmerciful persecution he endured for being a Mennonite. He fled Switzerland for Netherlands and from theire sailed to Pennsylvania about 1700. On September 6, 1734 he recieved the patent for his land. from the Honorable John penn, Thomas Penn and Richard Penn. His immediate neighbors were James Steel, Dirk Johnson, Hans Meyer and John Isaac Klein. The first home that he built upon his land consisted of four forked saplings driven into the ground and marking out a square in the forks were laid poles, and on these a roof of poles, and the walls were of upright poles. There was a single opening for an entrance and the whole was built with an axe. This primitive house was adorned by a large Dutch clock brought over from Switzerland.

William Meyer was a farmer and lived on a farm in Springfield Township, bucks County, He was a member of the Springfield Mennonite church. His children were Henry, peter, Barbara and Abraham
